Harold Eugene Smith (1934-1993) formed the Harold Smith Majestic Choir, a choir of around 50 singers, in 1963 in Detroit and it quickly established itself with recordings on the Veejay label. When Veejay folded they signed with Checker, where three albums of gospel music were recorded and released.
