Willie Walker is a southern soul and R&B singer in the style of Sam Cooke and James Carr, whose first recordings, for the Goldwax label, were licensed to Checker for distribution. Mr Walker was born on 21 December 1941 and died in November 2019.

Andre Williams

R&B singer, writer and producer Zephire Andre Williams was born on November 1, 1936. He began his career singing in the 1950s. In 1968 he was signed to Checker records, where he had considerable success. He is also a well known song writer with many successful songs to his credit, including “Twine Time” and “Shake a tail feather”. A period of drug addiction and homelessness in the 1980s was overcome successfully and he relaunched his career. He died of colon cancer on 17 March 2019.

Blues and R&B singer, musician Emmit Ellis Jr (Bobby Rush) was born on November 10, 1933. He was born in Louisiana but his family migrated to Chicago in the 1950s. He was nominated for a 2013 Blues Music Award in the ‘Soul Blues Male Artist’ category.

On her earlier recordings her name was spelled Holly.
