“Little Luther” was the name used on Chess recordings by Lucious Brinson, also known as Luther “Snake Boy” Johnson, who was born on August 30, 1934 and died on March 18, 1976, of cancer. Brinson served with the US Army before becoming active in music, first in gospel music, then the blues, evolving a highly personal style.
