Arbee Stidham was born on February 9, 1917 and died on April 26, 1988. He was a jazz influenced blues vocalist and a multi instrumentalist and he led his own band by the 1930s. He moved to Chicago in the mid forties and initially recorded for RCA in 1947, with his first session producing his biggest hit, “My heart belongs to you”. He left RCA and moved to Checker and other labels, but did not repeat the earlier success. In the 1970s he got a job lecturing on the Blues at Cleveland State University.
