Robert Caffrey

R&B saxophonist Robert “Catman” Caffrey was born around 1926 and died in New Orleans in 2002, aged 75. Caffrey played with Roy Brown, Guitar Slim, Earl King and Huey “Piano” Smith, among others; he was also a member of the Dew Drop Inn house band in the 1950’s. He recorded for Chess in the early 1950s and also recorded for Savoy and other jazz labels.
