Country music pioneer Jimmy Lee Fautheree, pictured above with singing and recording partner Johnny “Country” Mathis, was born on April 11, 1934 and died on June 29, 2004, of cancer. He first came to prominence as a member of the radio series Louisiana Hayride. He left the music business in 1970 to work in asbestos removal. Singer and songwriter Johnny “Country” Mathis was born on September 28, 1933 and died on September 27, 2011 after a number of years of poor health following a stroke.

You will note the songwriting credit on the record label featured in the video of “S Lewis”. This is understood to be the famous Stan “The Record Man” Lewis, song writer and record producer/record distributor, of Shreveport, Louisiana.

The Chess country 78s were made in 1954.
