“Bad luck and trouble” by Boogie Jake is an early product of Minit records of New Orleans, which was subsequently leased to Chess for distribution. According to “Rhythm and Blues in New Orleans” by John Broven, the real identity of “Boogie Jake” is Matthew Jacobs and the recording was produced by Allen Toussaint. Matthew Jacobs was born around 1929 in Marksville, Louisiana, USA. After spurning music for some years, he appeared in blues festivals in the 1970s and 1980s but his whereabouts are currently unknown.
