Rhythm and blues pianist and singer Milton Morse “Billy Red” Love was born on 8 December 1929 and died on 2 May 1975. He is understood to have taught Rosco Gordon the piano. Billy Love was a session musician at Sun Records, backing Walter Horton, Rufus Thomas and Willie Nix. Some of the recordings issued on Chess under the name of Jackie Brenston are actually by Billy Love, especially “Juiced” (Chess 1472). “Drop Top” on Chess 1508 was recorded in the autumn of 1951 and leased to Chess.
