Singer, songwriter and record producer Jerome Solon Felder (Doc Pomus) was born on June 27, 1925 and died on March 14, 1991 after making a huge contribution in blues, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, soul and pop music. He had suffered polio as a boy and became interested in rhythm and blues when he first heard the music of Big Joe Turner. He is closely associated with pianist Mort Shuman who became his song writing partner; he also wrote with Phil Spector, Leiber and Stoller, and many others. “Send for the doctor” was released on Chess 1440.
