Singer and prolific songwriter Thomas Baker Knight Jr was born on July 4, 1933 and died on October 12, 2005 of natural causes after a long period of poor health. He learned to play guitar while serving in the Air Force. On discharge he was admitted to University where he began writing songs. He founded his rockabilly group, Baker Knight and the Knightmares, in 1956. He moved to Hollywood, becoming friends with Eddie Cochran. Many of his recordings are still available. He is probably best known for his song “The wonder of you” which became a signature song for the late Elvis Presley.
