Gene Simmons was born on July 10, 1933 and died on August 29, 2006 after a long illness. He is often referred to as “Jumpin'” Gene Simmons (see picture). His recording career began in 1958 with Sun Records of Memphis, who leased some of his recordings to Chess/Checker. He switched to Hi Records in the early 1960s. He is best known for his pop hit “Haunted House”. He continued to record until 1994.
