Blues singer Calvin H. Frazier was born on February 16, 1915 and died on September 23, 1972 of cancer. His first recordings were made by the Library of Congress prior to World War II. His commercial recordings were made from the late 1940s to the late 1950s. He is frequently associated with Robert Johnson and Johnny Shines.
Wikipedia notes that “His unique style combined slide guitar work with unusual lyrics, and a vocal phrasing that was difficult to decipher”. The Detroit Blues Society appealed to raise funds to mark Frazier’s previously unmarked grave with a headstone.
