Robert Higginbotham (Tommy Tucker) was born on March 5, 1933 and died on January 22, 1982. He is best known for his song Hi heel Sneakers which was a huge international success. Follow ups did not sell as well and he left the music industry in the late 1960s, to become a real estate agent and journalist-campaigner for civil rights and equality issues. He died aged 48 at College Hospital, Newark, New Jersey, officially from inhaling carbon tetrachloride while refinishing the hardwood floors of his home.
