Lucious Brinson a.k.a. Luther “Snake Boy” Johnson, also Luther “Snake” Johnson or Luther “Georgia Boy” Johnson, was born on August 30, 1934 and died on March 18, 1976, of cancer, aged just 41. After service with US Forces in 1953 he became a guitar player in a gospel group before turning his hand to blues. He moved to Chicago where he recorded his single “Eeenie meenie mini moe”/”Twirl” under the name of Little Luther for Chess. The single was issued in the UK on Pye International. He joined the Muddy Waters band in 1966 and relaunched his solo career in the early 1970s.
