The Corsairs

The Corsairs | Ekla | tc159

The Corsairs were brothers Jay, James and Moses Uzell and their cousin George Wooten. They formed in 1961 and signed with Tuff Records. Their Tuff release Smokey Places was picked up by Chess for national distribution. It and the follow up, I’ll take you home, were big hits. They disbanded in 1964. There is another present day group using the same name but they are understood to not be connected.
