Louis Terence Josie was born on 14 July 1938 in Ohio, of Hungarian ancestry. He recorded three country – rock and roll singles in 1958 at the Audio Recording Studio in Cleveland, Ohio which were leased to Chess. Chess put out the singles on the Argo label.

He then recorded a few singles under the name Jimmy King between 1959 and 1961.
He was then recruited into the touring band of B Bumble and the Stingers and toured the UK with them in October – November 1962.
He ceased recording in 1963 but continued to write and produce. He is one of the writers of the Barkays’ Stax recording “Soul Finger” (as J King) which was recorded in 1967. He is said to be still writing songs.
