Danny Overbea was born on 3 January 1926 and died on 11 May 1994; he was a guitarist and singer who became an early pioneer of rock ‘n’ roll. He began his musical career in 1946, joining Chess Records in 1952. ‘Train Train Train’ and ‘40 Cups Of Coffee’, are among the earliest rock ‘n’ roll songs. Overbea was known for his acrobatic back-bend to the floor while playing the guitar behind his head, and was often on the Alan Freed television programmes. Overbea made his last records in 1959 and retired from the music business in 1976.
