A Falcons line up with Eddie Floyd (right) | Soulwalking | tc063
The Falcons were originally Eddie Floyd, Bob Manardo, James Hamler, Arnett Robinson, Tom Shetler and Willie Schofield. Other famous members of the group include Joe Stubbs, Wilson Pickett and Mack Rice. There were often more than one version of the Falcons on the road.
Their recordings were mostly made independently and placed with a number of record companies until they hit gold with “You’re so fine” in 1959. In 1958 they had recorded some sides for Chess which were not issued at the time, being deemed unsatisfactory. Chess decided to cash in on their new success, and got the group to re-record the titles. They were then released.
